Hey guys! I'm now 14, I guess I won't be using my other thread anymore.
So, I'm trying out portrait drawing(if that's what they call 'em), but I'm not finished with it yet. I'll post it soon.

No, it's not self portrait, it's just a female imagination, trying out what I've learn based on my observation of other portraits.

I got a new drawing, not a portrait. It's manga. As you can see there's no shadings or anything, because I'll color it with my colored pencils. Attachments:

Here's the colored version(colored with colored pencils). As you can see, I'm not that good at coloring. Anyway, tell me what you think. Attachments:

Yep! It's been a while. Here's my drawing, trying to do Mark's tutorial, but not the same character. This is a teenage girl, got problems with the lips because I don't know if I'll put thick or thin, it's size and shape. And the rest, maybe the eye, it looks weird. Tell what's on your mind Attachments:

Lips are always hard for me. As far as extreme basics, just remember that most of the time, the upper lip is not as big as the lower lip.

As far as the lips (going into detail a little more), just remember the web is a very useful place. Especially google images. I used a quick search of "girl face" and got these two rather quickly (around 10-20 seconds) and they fit the drawing you have pretty well. beautybodysite.com/images/face%202.JPGearabgirls.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/5a2c67c1-ce3a-4f51-92cb-30383eac7c28-600x900.jpgThis will show you about the size of the lips. As stated, the top is generally thinner then the bottom. As for the eyes, her right eye is slightly smaller then the left, and it also has more of a curve on the upper outside where as the left is more of a straight line. Either eye's style is fine, it's just that since they are slightly different sizes, and slightly different shape to part of it, this is probably is what was making you think something was wrong with the eyes. The ears are also different widths. Her right ear is both shorter and much thinner then her left. They look good individually, but they are not close enough to symmetric to look right. As stated, they are perfectly fine individually, but their sizes are off. The picture is a bit blurry, so I can't talk about details of the eyes, hair, etc, but what I can see looks perfectly fine. Keeping the proper sizes is hard. That's why most people draw slightly from the side, because it's harder to tell the proper size. From what I can see though, it seems like all the individual components are great. Just needs a few tweaks here and there for consistency sake. EDIT: Oh, and just a quick note on the colored in pic. Hips are to small. Common to new artists, as the hips are actually quite wide, and start higher in the body then most realize at first. EDIT AGAIN: O-o in you pic, the hips are placed at the right height I think... I was just saying it's common for people to put them low. EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: ... Anyway, also, her back shoulder is wrong. The shirt curves as if it were a direct front pose and should curve back more, making the width of that back shoulder much shorter, therefor making it look right. Something like this (sorry for my crude mspaint example, but point should get across just fine.):

WTF?! I've done a mistake of not uploading my drawing right after I draw it. Somebody ruined it. It had some pentel pen markings everywhere.

Hector,
I think the biggest thing with drawing "armor" persay is to remember exactly how many layers that go into wearing it. It's important to indicate just how far the armor rises up from the surface or skin it is covering. You really do not want your armor following too closely to the skin or surface of the character, because it just won't look natural.
The other thing is, detail detail detail. Well drawn armor has a plethora of well-placed and well-though-out details. This includes, but is not limited to: Buckles, straps, drill holes, engravings, cut outs, spikes, et cetera.
Lastly, try to get the shading on the armor correct. It is important to note that you should know exactly the type of material the armor is made out of. Some metallic armors have a dull gradient type feel to them, while others are very shiney and luminescent.
Regards,
- MB

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I have been in this place. It's a looong story why that happened, and surely next time I'll be here will be a looong time too. Sorry. Anyway, I'm now practicing realistic female face. Got some tips for me?

Hello guys! Good to be back. I guess I'll be visiting this site more often . We got an arts activity tomorrow, and we are gonna draw a cartoon character, something like that, with abstraction in it. I recently became a fan of Cartoon Network's Adventure Time and I thought that how about Marceline(A vampire girl), but somehow it's not good enough for me. I came up with a crazy idea, turning her into anime it's kinda cool in my head so I started to draw some sketch. I think it's a good idea to take a photo of this and post it here, so I did. About my sketch, ignore the unfinished umbrella and the axe thingy on the right side because I was doodling. I used color pencils(Faber-Castell) to color it on an oslo paper. Tell me what you think. BTW, who else here know Adventure Time? Attachments:

I would work on seperating the color of the dress from the hair. Overall its hard to say work on this etc when you draw the figure so small. The general proportions are pretty good, and I can only see some minor details that bug me, but of course these could just be choices based on your own personal style.

Her body parts all come from different sizes of person. Her upper torso is too big for her lower torso, which is too big for her pelvis/thighs, and her shins are too small for anything. It feels like you started with the head, but as you got closer to the bottom of the page you unconsciously shrank things in an attempt to fit everything in.

I like the arms and face. I can definitely see a mark crilley influenced style on the face. I feel bad asking this, but this is supposed to be a woman right? If so the width of the hips and the shoulders should at least be equal. In this case I suggest making the hips wider while also making the shoulders slightly smaller. The hips should be wider than the waist. A very stylized proportional measurement is the shoulders being 2 head widths wide, the waist being 1 heads width wide, and the hips being 2 head widths wide. Sometimes people even draw the hips wider than the shoulders. Of course you can play around with this to however you want. But this gives you the classic hour glass shape. The neck should not be quite as wide as it is. I forgot what to use as the measurement... I think its eyes but I just kind of eyeball it. And the hair is the last part we should take a look at. All I can do is suggest you use a reference image like this media.photobucket.com/image/sexy%20anime%20girl/Apologize22e/0eb170e9dc428950489c7846df0e19c2.png?o=10&sortby=sevendaysviewThe hair shouldn't clump like that. Even if the wind is blowing it in that direction wind doesn't blow consistently like that. It makes a wind tunnel kind of effect. Notice how the hair in the reference image lifts up and to the right? But they all seem to curl back in towards the body? You can imagine that the hair is actually blowing back in forth in the wind. You can apply this to clothing and other things blowing in the wind. Remember whenever you use reference to not just draw what you see, but understand why you are drawing what you are. If you would like I could print off your image and upload the drawing with my changes so you can see how it looks. I did something similar for someone else on here.
