Well, here's the overview of a manga idea I have. I can't draw very well, but I can write, so if anyone would be interested in doing some artwork, I'd greatly appreciate it. If I ever get it written and drawn out, I plan on publishing it as a web comic. Anyways, here's the deal!
Mitch Nolan is your average twelve year old. He has his good days and his bad days, but mostly average days. Summer is drawing to a close, and once again he is driven into his shell. Everyone at school considers him a nerd, and they often overlook his quick wits and strong sense of humor.
Whenever his mom awakens him with her usual banging on the door, slamming the wall, or slinging clothes at him, she also informs him he will be walking to school with one of his worst fears. Angie Whitticurk.
Rumors follow Angie like flies follow stink. People say that she was really raised by animals, and her foster parents found her when they went camping. Others believe she is a cannibal. One of the less obscure accusations is that she eats raw steak for breakfast.
The two outcasts soon become thick as thieves, and whenever Mitch finally works up the courage to ask her if they myths are true, he finds out more than he bargained for, Angie admits that she is a witch.
She explains that she is learning from a book that she has had for as long as she can remember, and that she is still an amateur. Luckily, there are marks you can place upon the body that enhance certain elemental strengths. Angie explains that she can harness fire without them, but some other elements are harder to stabilize.
She draws a mark on Mitch's hand, and tells him to focus on the feeling you get when you hold your hand above the flame of a candle. Soon enough, his sleeve is on fire and the alarm in the gym is going off.
Enter Faust Abend the school's German teacher, and also a secret witch hunter. As events unfold, the two friends are discovered by Faust, and an underground battle between Abend and his followers and the two friends ensues.
I will probably introduce some other main plot force, but for now, that's the idea! I hope to further this with the help of an artist better than I am, so if you are interested, tell me and I'll start working on writing out the first chapter!
