The Discovery Channel's show, The Colony, will be entering its 3rd season in April.
The Colony is a Post Apocalyptic experiment that is unscripted, even for those who aren't main characters.
Survivors must either hunt, steal or trade for their food. Battle marauders, thieves and traitors who may attempt to harm the survivors.
To be honest I wish It was real cause then there wouldn't be any producers to hold me back.
I've watched it since Day 1 of the first season and applied to be on the second season knowing I'd be 18 just as that started filming. However they said even though I'd be old enough for when filming started they wanted me old enough right away, to sign things i assume. They did however say that if it wasn't for my age I would be a top candidate because of my time in JROTC and time practicing wilderness survival. which is #2 below drawing. As well as my knowledge of medieval technology, which is very handy when there is no power or clean water and you have to defend yourself from barbarian like hordes wielding bats and poles.
So I'm 18 now, going to turn 19 while they film.
I've already applied again this year but I wont hear anything until march 15th , which is when official casting starts, i will apply again then just in case.
If I can get on this show I might actually be able to launch a career in wilderness survival shows (like survivor man, not man vs wild) and human societal studies, which is my dream job. My hope is to have a show where a HUGE plot of unimproved land (that means with forests and rivers and streams and no human changes) and fence it off, then take 50 willing people of random or no educations and leave them in the middle of this land with only basic tool and supplies for a whole year. To watch them build a town from scratch and see how they form a government, how they crack and heal. But most important to the study, WHY. Why would an uneducated person put their house here rather then there? Why would they form one type of government over another, why do they cling to the few others with them as apposed to go off alone?
Answering those questions would give us great insight into how the mind works, how societies formed, why, and the past as a species.
hah i started rambling. oh well.
wish me luck everyone.
If i get permission from dave ill post the link on where to apply to be on the show.
