Hello all! Let me introduce myself first.... I'm Jesse from Holland and I'm 18. I've always been into drawing but never did it alot seriously, I used to buy alot of how-to books and would not do alot with them, but I always kept doodeling whenever I had a piece of paper and a pen... And then I found Mark's video's a little while ago, and I decided to try some drawing yesterday. Here's two pictures of what I tried yesterday, remember this is after about 6 years of not-serious drawing, so don't expect Mark Crilley quality drawings;) And they are just sketches, need to get a fineliner or something... I used a standard HB pencil, Crilley fans might recognize these images slightly........... haha

Well, first off. On the eyes, remember they are basically a ball in a socket. (That's the best way to think about it while drawing them, don't think too hard on how they connect to the brain, we're focusing on shapes here.) Now, you're 18 so I'm expecting you know how to draw basic 3D shapes, correct?
A ball in a socket, that would be a sphere for the ball, and for the socket you would draw lines to overlap the sphere. Now in anime/manga and cartoons we see a lot of vertical eyes. Well, just reshape the sphere for them to look a little more vertical, this'll make the vertical pupil feel like it fits the eye better.
Also, make sure to draw both eyes every time, this way you get used to figuring out the distance between the eyes, and how perspective affects their sizes. Hope that helps.

Thank's for this advice, appreciate it, the two eye thing makes alot of sense (too)!
English is not my native tongue and it's taking some time to digest the first eye part, but I think that I know what you mean!
