Hey all, I just finished my first page to my ongoing graphic novel thing I'm working on. My brother is the writer. I'm the illustrator and idea person. What I have so far has a ton of errors and I rushed through the art to get something produced to get me started. But I figure: learn by doing. I'm going to do some watercolors with ink in the future, but I'm making it black and white with grey tones. I'm going to begin adding the grey tones digitally, as I'm unhappy with how the markers came out. Let me know what you think! kanaloacomic.wordpress.com/

Thanks. I've attempted to take more time on the latest two pages. Hands are still very difficult for me. I also have the tendency to draw eyes in an in-congruent fashion. I usually go back and study comics and manga techniques I see. Sometimes I wing it too much. But I figure learn by doing a lot of art and learning from errors.

Oh yeah, and the story is about two siblings. One is a 9 year old girl, the other is her 14 year old brother. They both live on Maui and they're both surfers. My brother (my writer) and I were originally going to do a Selkie tale (Celtic legend about seal people) but he wanted to scrap that to do something else in the future. I might try and convince him resume the selkie idea. It would be an interesting story of people who long for the sea, because selkies come ashore, mate and return to the ocean where they become seal people again. The subsequent generations later long to return to the ocean and don't know why. This creates much drama and conflict. As you can see, we don't have a large plot yet. My brother, a trained screenwriter, is creating an outline and sending me a page at a time to work on.

Wow, I would say the art can use some improvement, but the ammount of work you put into it shows real dedication. I usually draw like 2 pages and quit. Nice job.
