How has the comic industry changed?

A few years ago Borders closed their stores. For me there isn't any decent book stores for hundreds of miles now. Is the comic industry growing ? or declining? Are paper comics being phased out by digital animated comics?

Diamond has been doing its best to drive small comic shops out of business, so that they only have to deal with large customers. Efficiently destroying their own sector with efficiency.
