Comparison Chart: Debut vs. EX graphics.smithmicro.com/go/mangastudio/chartDecide by yourself =D Only you will know what you really need, but if you're just going for inking and coloring, I just found out there's a free version of open canvas which is pretty good. If you want tones, then Manga Studio is a better choice but I can't help you with choosing between Debut and EX...

oh!!oh!!oh!! I recently bought manga studio debut after many hours of consideration I got the last one off amazon. Its really good if you consider doing more inking, panelling and sketching on the computer. I must admit its not brilliant for colouring because you have to create a new layer for each colour you use ( a graphics pen is really handy) .
I intend on doing alot of coloured illistration myself in manga so I guess its a program that best suits me.

hey again ^_^
manga studio debut can do different shadings they' r just listed under 'tones' . you first hav to select an area you want to tone with either the lasso or the magic wand then apply that tone using the list available.
I really like manga studio because it give you the opportunity to apply various textures to your work that you can't do with ink or fine liners ^_^. like for instance when you look at most manga like beyblade you'll see that alot of areas are either filled with block ink etc where as in fruits basket the dress that natsuki has tohru wear are very textured ( she also uses alot of cross hatching which if you did it by hand would make your hand ache ^_^ haha)
Its worth buying if your doing your first manga project ( like me !! ^_^) or you just basically like using computer software to produce art?? ( manga studio doesnt just need to be used for manga it can be used to alter and change photographs in a fun way. )
So I'd say if you never treat yourself to anything like me haha then its worth getting your hands on.
