I done some test to do a smooth shade using tone. First probleme came from using pure black and white pixel so the only way to get light or dark is by space and tickness variation. So i chosed thickness variation. Ok After I noticed that i need incredibly hight rez .. Because i need to get many variation of line tickness.. I can not do it at 600 dpi because my line was 4 pixel wide .. so it mean i could only do 4 - 3 -2 -1 and 0 pure white .. Only 5 level it looked like cell shaded. Finally i made it at 2400 dpi .. Scaled down result. Note that it's still possible to see little stripes .. maybe i need even higher resolution . Attachments:

100% picture size So it work .. But my page is about 2Gb. Oh, My... 2 GB for only one page ... I will realy need to talk with an expert in printing ... to know if there are a real advantage about using pure black and white. As i know there are no advantage for place who do print on demand, with 300 DPI file .. Attachments:

For the too big file it's caused mostly by photoshop that dont want to use 1 bit bitmap layer at same time than RGB or grayscale So everything must be in same mode.. So my file is a full RGB ..

Instead of thickness of the lines like that, you can dither as well
Also, you could do separating the lines instead of a grid, and then to get different tones you can then cross likes the other way. For example:
|___|___|___|___| |__|__|__|__|__|_ |_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Each | is a black pixel, each _ is blank (white).
It's similar to your process, just not a specified grid size.
I would still say using a dithering process is better then solid lines.

I tought about what you .. said I was concerned about how to dither quick .. and just how to dither at all using premade patern and keep everything smooth ..
For line tickness i can use minimum and maximum filter with a smothed selection to control the thickness.
And 'bam'! .. i just got an idea .. i will try to cross hatch over my patern with white line .. So i have a test to do!

I'd recommend putting a little more work into the shape of the weapon grips before you go to finishing inks. Sure, the guns are intrinsically unrealistic in their bulk and excess, but there's no way they could even be held (much less used) with rectangular prism grips.

By the way there are some kind of logic behind the double canon hand gun .. I thought the '"two recoil" .. at about the same distance from the andle could cancell ... THe rotating kik back that hapen with hand gun. So even with a huge amount of kik a gun like that will probably stay quite straight and stable whiles firing.

ANd this gun do not uses gun powder to fire bullet .. It uses high energy electric spark that go across water bubble. So, the water is instantaneously turned to vapor that split to hydrogen and oxygene that ignite from the spark and burn.
The sniper style one is intended to be a linear launcher..
I also think about a Plasma propulsion gun ..A gun somewhere between rocket luncher and gun .. Because the amo are rocketed by a plasma. Concept : An high enegy laser aim the amo when the laser touch the surface of the amo the metal is turned into plasma that acelerate the amo..

Overall, you still have good perspective, and the illusion of volume is fairly there. List of things you need to correct: -Coloring and tones aren't that bad, though the moon being a light source and lighting on her body coming from what I guess to be a street light (nothing drawn in for me to tell) is really confusing. -The placement of the eyes is way too high, needs to just below the center, or right at the center. -The hair is incredibly flat (it looks like it doesn't contain any volume) and the parts of it on her left make little to no sense. -There's a lacking of perspective on her left arm. There also a few anatomy errors here and there, which I'd point out, but I have an idea of a practical way you can get better. (Consider it a home work thingy to help you out a bit.) I want you to do 20 figure drawings before the week is out. 10 male, 10 female. Here's a few that Cartoonblock did on his vlog channel on how to do them, watch and see what your images should look like: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqtuI9qu07g www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoow616FGeo www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Gjr23GzkUkSince you're a beginner spend 5-10 minutes on the first few to try and get the hang of it, than speed up progressively. If you can afford to go to a drawing class go, if not use this website for reference, and make sure you click random pose, don't just skip over one because you don't like it: www.posemaniacs.com/Hope this helps.

I disagree on the eye level, it's high compared to stereotypical manga, but fairly close to where they'd be on a real skull.
The implied light source from the right appears to be fairly high (shadow is short), so there should be yellowish highlights higher up on the hair...I think part of what makes it feel flat is that the highlight doesn't fit with the rest of the lighting.
Similarly, adding some fainter yellow highlights on the front facing of the tree would help tie your two light sources together.

Thanks awsome comments. Ho! I think she look better with lower eye .. and i tried to lower all facial feature to .. I done a test that I will use as refernce .. for later change on the original work. So i scaled down the left arm . I done change to shoulders, Neck ( i dont like original .. and even the new neck and i cant figure what's wrong) And i also shortened the right leg .. And i included information for the light source .. 1: A garden light on a pole (original idea) 2: a new idea is the light came from the gun. Attachments:

My manga project is actually my class. I mean my "story" because i writed the original script for a game. And i actualy done a demo. But i never bean able to put a studio togeter to finish it. Alone it would have taken something like 40 years to finish the game lol.
So instead to trash it. I convert it to a manga. And I learn as i go drawing story writhing. paneling inking and english language. I got many books even on marketting and leadership. I though about doing a japanese translation myself as a way to learn japanese .
I writed the chapter 10.5 that will be a little adventure game done with my old game stuff.

If you want light on the face, the gun muzzles can't be the light source, since that light would be blocked by the gun itself. An off-camera source is okay, as long as you make sure everything in the picture is realistically lit by it (i.e. having the person but not the tree be lit is bad). Right now, the way the figure is drawn suggests an off-screen light source coming from about the direction of the upper right corner.

I see for the gun light even with indirect light she will have a big shadow in the face ..
For the light on the tree .. maybe i will put a closer tree on the right it will get some yellow light .. If you look the picture the yellow light is already dead on the floor before it reach the big tree so i can add a little bit of yello but not that much ..
And i need to finish the decor and the cratures too. many missing things are in the range of the yellow light.
I just went to finish my second drawings from posemaniac.
